IN BUSINESS

Rebecca Malicsi-Szymanski:
It's all About Giving Back to the Community

As President and Principal Broker of Sunrise Lending, Inc., a licensed mortgage brokerage company in Orlando, Rebecca "Becky" Szymanski used her extensive background in the finance industry to set the stage for fulfilling her dream of establishing her own successful mortgage business.

Prior to her transition from the corporate world to entrepreneurship, Becky had twenty years of experience having worked with several of the country's leading banking institutions. Her vast knowledge of the business is what sets her apart from other mortgage brokers.

What sets her even further apart is her burning desire to make a difference in the community she lives and works in.
Although she has her hands full with the day-to-day tasks of running her mortgage business, Becky still finds the time to lend a helping hand.
This is evidenced by the many civic organizations she is a member of. To mention a few, she is currently the President of the Asian American Chamber of Commerce (AACC) and the Asian American Women Association (AAWA). She also served as a past president of the AACC in 2000 and an active board member from 1998-1999.

"America's strength lies in its diversity", says Becky. "We have a role to play in creating an America that accepts and understands our differences."
She further adds, "The Asian American Chamber of Commerce is not only inviting other Asian Americans in business to join the AACC but also non-Asians who would like to do business with the Asian American community. Those interested can contact me for more information."

Other than the AACC, Becky is currently a board member for the Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce, UCF President Minority Adviser and Vice-Chair of the Asian American Heritage Council.

Prior to relocating her family to Orlando, Becky was active in Melbourne, Florida where she served as President of the Filipino American Association of Brevard County (FAABCO).

Committed to eliminating child abuse from our communities, Becky also founded and served as President of the National Exchange Club both in Brevard and Osceola counties. The primary focus of this organization was Child Abuse Prevention. Because of her unwavering dedication to worthwhile projects in her community, she was made a recipient of the special National Award for Volunteerism in 1996. She was also chosen by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to participate in the FBI Community Outreach and is a graduate of the FBI Citizen Academy. She is one of the Judge for Florida Future Business Leaders of America/Phi Beta Lamda yearly.

Her ongoing affiliations also include the Leadership Orlando Alumni Association, Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce, the National Mortgage Broker Association (NAMB) and the Florida Mortgage Broker Association (FAMB).

Becky runs her mortgage business with the same passion she devotes to her community outreach programs. For Becky, it's all about giving back and "paying it forward.
