It is common to hold dinner dances to socialize and promote a cause and organizing it can be simple or complex depending on its objective.
Most Filipino Americans utilize
dinner dances to raise funds to benefit a cause,
charity, or their organizational objectives. Filipino
families also hold dinner dances, in the case of
debutantes, to formally introduce their children into
society.
For the 18th Sampaguita Ball in Tampa, tickets were sold
out and many were turned away. "We felt bad we had to
turn away so many," said Helen Piloneo, chair of the
event. "Our Sampaguita committee members worked so hard,
all tickets were sold."
"Whatever the objective is, most important is planning,"
said Mrs. Lucy Bautista. "The satisfaction of guests and
meeting the organization's objectives are a must."
