The Philippine-American Cultural Foundation of Florida, based in Palm Beach county is developing its 20-acre property near the scenic Okeechobee Lake. "Our annual Ylang-Ylang Benefit Ball is held to support the development of a Philippine Garden," said Beth Marull, Ylang-Ylang committee chair. | ||

"The Philippine Garden will be a unique showcase of the Philippines exotic flora," explained Maria Barrameda, Garden committee chair. "So far we have been able to achieve its objectives." Filipinos are naturally adept dancers. Without overlooking the purpose of the event, their attendance would be more for the dance over dinner. However, for most its the best time to showcase their favorite attire or dance skills. To others, it is a great time to socialize, network, or support their organizations. Other than decor, music and attire, Filipino dinner dances are unique in many more ways. "Filipinos are hospitable and social people," said Mrs. Marull. "They like to dress up and enjoy the event. They like to dance. Filipinos like to line-up and do the 'todo-todo' at earliest opportunity. Those who dont know can get instant dance lessons right there!" BASTA PINOY NEWS www.bastapinoy.com |
