AMERICAN SERIAL RAPIST PLACED ON WATCHLIST

MANILA, Aug. 1 -- An American serial rapist who
entered the country after eluding arrest in the United States has been placed on the watchlist of the Bureau of Immigration and Deportation (BID) BID Commissioner Rufus Rodriguez issued the order placing Mark Anthony Lewis, 33, on the immigration watchlist to prevent him from leaving the country so he could be turned over to U.S. authorities if arrested.

Rodriguez also ordered immigration agents to coordinate with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in launching a manhunt for Lewis, who is wanted by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for raping at least nine Asian women in
Chicago.

He also asked the U.S. State Department to cancel Lewis' passport so he could be immediately deported upon arrest.

Rodriguez confirmed that Lewis, a U.S. Army veteran and health care worker, entered Manila on July 21 aboard a Northwest Airlines.

Lewis' last victim was a Hispanic immigrant in Chicago last July 19.

Danilo Almeda, chief supervisor at the NAIA, said Lewis arrived here as a tourist from Chicago and listed his occupation as a customer service worker.

Almeda also reported that Lewis had been in Manila before June 2 when he left the country aboard a Singapore Airlines flight. (SNS)
