3 KILLED, R.P. AMBASSADOR HURT IN INDON BLAST

MANILA, Aug. 1  -- Three people were killed while
Philippine Ambassador to Indonesia Leonides Caday was seriously hurt after a bomb was detonated at the envoy's official residence in central Jakarta.

The explosion occurred while Caday was entering his residence in a car. He is being trated for injuries to his legs.

Meanwhile, the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) said it was not behind the deadly bomb attack.

MILF spokesman Eid Kabalu said "the MILF is definitely not involved in this attack against a Philippine diplomat in a Muslim country."

"We have no plan or action such as this," he said, adding that the organization did not have the capability to mount bomb attacks in a foreign country.

At the same time, Vice President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo said the bombing was an act of terrorism.

"I condemn it as a senseless terrorist act," Arroyo said. She did not identify those behind the act, saying she was awaiting more information on the incident. (SNS)
