Consul, Commissioner Commends PAS for its Scholarship Program

West Palm Beach, Feb. 16 -- The Philippine American Society Valentine's Gala, now on its 10th year, was held at the Palm Beach Convention Center. Special guests were Philippine Honorary Consul General Angelo S. Macatangay and Palm Beach Commissioner Jess Santamaria.

The fundraising event aims to help gifted children with its scholarship program which is awarded every year. "It is imperative that we do everything we can to encourage all our children to excell in academics, sports and civic activities to preapre them for future leadership," stated Commissioner Santamaria in his message.

"The officers and members of PAS under the leadership of Mr. Manny Atmosfera and Valentine's Galaa Committee Chair Dr. Patrick Mangonon should be commended for their continuous efforts in raising funds totheir scholarship program," said Consul General Macatangay. "Funds raised from this event go toward the Scholarship Stipends which are disbursed annually to deserving high school seniors who are attending college in the Fall," said Dr. Patrick Mangonon. "Last year a total of $6,500 was awareded to 5 deserving students." Through the kindness of Mr. and Mrs. Jess Santamaria PAS added the annual Santamaria Humanitaria Award to recognize youths with outstanding citizenship and spiritual qualities.
	As the dance floor filled with eager feet, the youth took to their own special circle and danced the night away.

"PAS has awarded stipends to 26 deserving high school students, 10 of whom have completed their Bachelors Degrees and successful in their chosen careers," stated PAS Executive Director Manny Atmosfera.
